Establishment of Volleyball Academy by the Vishakapattnam Steel Plant in co-ordination with the Sports Authority of India and VFI in June 1996.
The Volleyball Federation of India was adjudged the second best by the FIVB for the conduct of the World Volleyball Centennial Celebrations at Chennai and FIVB gave a Plaque and Prize Money of U.S. $1000 to the Volleyball Federation of India.
The Federation International De Volleyball graded India as one of the four competitive Federations in Asia alongwith Japan, China and Korea.
Volleyball Federation of India entered into a contract with Doordarshan.
Efforts are under way to construct Volleyball Indoor Stadium.
FIVB Regional Development Centre for Volleyball inaugurated on the 19th September 1997 at Chennai.
VFI goes online on the Internet in March 1998. VFI is the first National Sports Federation in India to adopt this new medium for the development of Volleyball.
