An all round Sportsman from his younger days.Was a member of the National Cadet Corps and holds the honour of winning the best Cadet award.

A good marksman particularly in Clay-Pigeon Shoting having won medals at national and state levels.

Led the Indian Contingent as its Chef-de-Mission for the VIII Asian Games, 1978.

As President of the Volleyball Federation of India he served excellently for the cause of Volleyball and became one of lthe top administrators .

  • The Olympic order of merit was conferred for the services renderred for the development of sports and educaton by the International Olympic Committee.
  • Was awarded Gold Medal on the 19th of July by the International Volleyball Feferation for his valuable contribution towards the development of Vollleyball in India.
  • He earned a award for his exemplary services rendered for the development of Sports and education .He received the 'Sports and Study award the year 1987.

NATIONAL
  • 'Shiromani' Award on the 9th May 1990 for outstanding achievements in various fields of
    activties.
  • 'Vijaya Shree' Award on the 26th Aug 1990 in Madras.

 


 

 



In recognition of his performances in the various spheres of activties he was appointed the Sherrif of Madras by the Tamilnadu Govt. in 1981 and held the office for two years against the normal term of one year.
